Hotel Tricks
Select your room carefully. Both types of rooms are available at the hotel: shared bathroom and en-suite. Sometimes, there is hardly any difference in the prices between the two but a huge difference in comfort. Make sure you explicitly select an en-suite room if you do not want to walk down the corridor in the middle of the night to use the toilet. Try getting a room at the back of the property as well. The back rooms overlook a car park; they are much quieter than front rooms which face a busy A6 road with morning commuter traffic,
Food wise, while the breakfast is excellent, this hotel simply does not do dinner. However, once again location serves you well. There is a very popular pub and restaurant, The Moorbrook nearby which serves great wood-fired pizzas and craft ales. A little further 10 minutes walk either towards Fulwood or towards city centre provides more options of takeaways and restaurants. Since the hotel usually allows you to bring food in, having a takeaway in the dining room or your room is a common option for tired guests.
Be aware of the "match day" dynamic. If you are staying on a Saturday home game for Preston North End, then yes, it gets very busy and probably full with their friendly supporters. If your preference lies in a quiet relaxing stay, check football fixtures before booking! On the contrary-if you're there for the football-book well ahead as this is prime location to stadium & rooms sell out quick when big teams are in town. Also carry some cash;while they take cards, small local payments or bus fare into town is often easier with coins.
